Marc Aculert

Marc Aculert's home in Paris is minimalistic, chic and balanced. Paris is a city where the energy is enough to make most things magical and stunning with minimal effort. According to NY Times, Mr Marc is a jewellery designer where he combines museum-worthy pieces and reinvent the into eccentric jewellery. I am more interested in his interior, with happy pop of orange, rustic cart wheel from Thailand to de-sterilized, otherwise bland and sterile environment.

I followed Hedi Slimane's career when he injected androgynous into Dior homme and turned the fashion house around - he's about to do the same with YSL, with his bold move to change the brand which has a long history. I think he took the bulls by the horn and relive the respectable fashion house and make it contemporary again. 

Creative retail space is another factor that is just as important as the collection fashion designer designs every season - Hedi designs this flagship store with monochromatic natural marble, chrome and punctuated with antiques.

Suits TV Show

I bought Suits Season 1 DVD months ago and finally had the time to catch up with my TV Show marathon during my Christmas break. Sounds quite sad to how I spent most of my holiday break but I could not remember the last time I did one of these marathons. I'm now on Season 2 and the show did not disappoint. What's not to love? Attractive, well-dressed casting, sleek office interior and intelligent story line, I'm sold.

Sitting area. When was the last time you entered an office and it looked as cool as this? Our imagination of definition of "cool office" is corrupted by tech companies in Silicon Valley who make us believe that high-IQ adults working in the office wants a child-playground with crazy accent coloured walls, pool/fusbal table and bean bag chairs. This is what professional office environment should be and I guarantee increased productivity.

Bose Soundbar & Apple TV

A while ago, I blogged about my intentions wanting to purchase a Bose CineMate in the US. Well, I bought it and got it set up at my home.

I had to ask the electrician to come and hide the wires and the optical cable was a pain in the ass to insert because the wall is mounted so close to the TV.

I love it and with combination of Apple TV, it is a match made in heaven. I can watch YouTube projected HD on my LED TV and the sound quality from Bose, listen to Internet radio etc etc!

On a another note, I'm tired of Australian retailers whinging and complaining how their businesses are deteriorating. Just take a look at department stores like Myer or David Jones, their stock is pathetic with 200-300% markup margins and the stores themselves are not inviting and ugly. I rarely shop in Australia unless they are big item stuff that cannot be shipped overseas.

Who in the sound mind that is well educated would spend their hard earned money in Australian retailers when EXACT same good sold overseas are like $500 cheaper. I purchased this sound system in the US with savings of around $500! Ridiculous!

It is rare that I have an unhealthy obsession about something, when that happens, they are usually something that ticks all the boxes and me and hit me like a bolt of lighting.

Firmdale hotel designs do that to me.


Love the wallpaper





This is by far the most impressive work I have seen and I have gotten a lot of inspirations from looking at their designs. One thing I observed was 'breaking up' a noisy wallpaper with art or mirrors. I am still on a hunt for the perfect ones for my koi wallpaper.

Study

The place is looking very sterile with everything brand new and I hung this antique paintings which I got from the market and it balances out well.

I have also decided not to get a book shelf and just arranged the books on the console.

Family Room

This is my family room setup at the moment. The curtains are temporary, I have velvet grey ones to warm up the plain cold white wall coming in. I threw in a shiny chrome scissor legs coffee table to offset otherwise too woody feel from the floor.
